Dear Commissioner Infante-Green:

I hope this message finds you well.  After some early mulligans, you have shown true leadership throughout the hardest parts of the pandemic.  History will look upon you favorably.

One of the things history will like is you supporting a mask mandate for students.  Until we get enough people vaccinated so that variants are no longer a thing, this is an important step.  Polling tells us you have the support of the Rhode Island community on this.

I have to be honest.  Some of us were wondering what was taking so long.  The Governor was originally opposed.  We figured if he let you stay after “Guy who romances toes” was discovered that you could defy him on this and you would get away with it.

On this issue, and many others, we have your back.  Yes, as I am writing this some clowns in Glocester are thinking of filing suit.  They will not have public support.  Their Grant Applications will be APRA’d the next day.

However, do yourself a favor.  Do not repeat the mistakes of the South Kingstown School Committee or the Teachers Union.  If someone files suit, follow your lawyer’s instructions.  Do not look to fix things on your own behalf.  That is what we will do for you.

Somewhere in the last 30 years, some political basics have been lost.  You do not attack the person who seeks records or files suit against you just for doing those things.  You go after them when you are sure they did so for disgusting reasons.  In the case of the Glocester School Committee it could be they are getting astroturfed by someone or it could just be a rural thought process at work.  We saw an example of that in Alabama already this week.
