Narrowing It Down

The folks in Wilson County requested that I ask for one department at a time.  Always do what the folks on the ground ask you to do.  These filings are a pain in the ass.  Yes, the information is rightfully ours but be considerate of the folks who have to put it together.

Wilson County Clerk’s Office

Lebanon, TN  37087

Dear Deputy Clerk Dowdy:

Under the Tennessee Open Records Act, §10-7-503 et seq., I am requesting an opportunity to inspect or obtain copies of public records that have to do with grants.  I would like to see page 1 of every grant application filed by Wilson County on behalf of the Agricultural Center in the last two years.

If there are any fees for searching or copying these records, please inform me if the cost will exceed $200.  The Tennessee Open Records Act requires a response time within seven days. If access to the records I am requesting will take longer than this amount of time, please contact me with information about when I might expect copies or the ability to inspect the requested records.  I am aware that this is an unexpected request that may be rather large. Do not be afraid to take your time.

If you deny any or all of this request, please cite each specific exemption you feel justifies the refusal to release the information and notify me of the appeal procedures available to me under the law.

Editorial Section you need not respond to: Ms. Davenport suggested I go one Department at a time. She also requested that regardless of Department, I go through you as custodian of the records.

Thank you for considering my request.

Sincerely,

Robert T. Oliveira
